Here’s What We Need to Thrive in Rural Places
While Congress Focuses on Culture Wars and Handouts to Billionaires, Here’s our Shortlist of the Most Important Priorities for Small Towns
With MAGA members of Congress prioritizing handouts to billionaires and culture wars over progress for rural communities, it’s left our list of unfinished priorities growing longer and longer.
Here’s a slice of what we want to see for rural and small-town America:
A plan to re-open rural clinics and hospitals
More funding and less red tape to build more affordable housing units
Support for critical services like reliable high-speed internet and postal service
A comprehensive Farm Bill that fully funds the needs of farmers and rural communities
Investments in critical infrastructure like roads, bridges, updated power grids, and energy projects
An expansion of services provided by Medicaid - not the devastating cuts being pushed in Congress
An end to the Republican culture wars that want to dictate how people live their lives, raise their families and even identify who they are
An end to the politics of distraction, division, and destruction that have sapped the vitality out of American communities and left residents alienated from their communities
This is what families, students, seniors, and workers need to thrive in rural places.

We’ve been outnumbered in Washington for a long time, so it’ll be up to us – and this community we’re building with folks like you – to hold Congress to account until we see the action and progress we want to see. After all, this is what all their shiny TV ads promised they were going to do.
Together, we’ve got the grit and determination to carry us through no matter how hard the job is.
Would that sort of farm bill include incentive for growing fresh fruit and vegetables, opening up local grocery stores, supporting small and young farmers? Also, maybe low interest business loans so then people could rebuild Main Street and kick out large corporations like Walmart and dollar stores?
